This page explains what personal data is involved when you visit oldjapaneseway.com or buy The Mottainai House, and what we do with it. The short version: this site does not use cookies, analytics or ads, and we only see the details you give when you buy the book or write to us.

1. Who is responsible

oldjapaneseway.com is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at contact@oldjapaneseway.com.

2. When you visit this site

• No cookies, no tracking. This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or social-media trackers.
• Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic technical data (such as browser type) to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Fonts. The page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when the page loads. See Google's privacy policy.

3. When you buy the book

Checkout is handled by Gumroad, Inc. You enter your email address and payment details on Gumroad, not on this site. We never see your full card number. Gumroad shares with us what we need to deliver the book and support you: typically your email address, name if given, country, the date and amount of the purchase, and refund status. See Gumroad's privacy policy.

We use this information only to deliver the book, answer your questions, process refunds, and keep the records the law requires for tax and accounting.

4. When you email us

If you write to contact@oldjapaneseway.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply to you.

5. What we do not do

We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers. We do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to join one.

6. How long we keep it

Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Emails are kept for as long as needed to help you, and then deleted.

7. Legal basis (for visitors in the EU, EEA and UK)

We process purchase data to perform our contract with you (delivering the book and refunds) and to meet legal obligations (tax and accounting records). We process emails and hosting data on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you and running a secure website.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to contact@oldjapaneseway.com and we will answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
